How to set up a karaoke night at your bar, step by step
A well-run karaoke night brings new people into your bar and keeps them longer. Here is what you need to get started.
1. Pick a night and repeat it
Choose a slow day of the week and always run it that day. It takes a few weeks for people to get used to it, but a fixed night builds returning customers.
2. Gather the basic equipment
- A computer with internet and a TV or projector.
- Two microphones and speakers with enough volume.
- Software to organize the requests.
3. Let guests request from their table
Paper sheets get lost and the DJ cannot attend everyone. With a QR code on each table, guests choose a song from their phone and the request lands in the queue. See how Dj Link does it.
4. Set clear rules
One song per person at a time and turns that rotate between tables stop one group from taking over the night.
5. Tell people it exists
Put the QR at the door, announce it on social media and show the queue on the TV. Singers bring their friends.
6. Test before the first night
Run a test with your equipment and speakers. It is much easier to fix the sound with an empty room.
